CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT

The Silk Armor, Roya Lane, London, United Kingdom

For a solid minute, Rose simply stood frozen after entering the place where she was scheduled to get her wedding dress made. She didn’t know what to make of The Silk Armor since it was filled with animals. The last time she’d been in the specialty seamster shop, she’d been surprised to find that the expert clothing maker was a giant tarantula. However, on this occasion, she was shocked to find the dress shop was full of animals.

“What is going on here?” Rose asked Elvis, who was still hanging out there after helping London with his fitting. Actually, it was more likely that he did little helping and mostly just annoyed the poor groom with bad jokes.

“Jeremy Bearimy is testing materials for a new line of clothes,” Elvis replied, floating next to Rose, who stood by the door, not daring to step into the shop, afraid to get rammed by one of the goats jumping around the shop. There was also a sheep, an alpaca and an angora rabbit.

“Don’t they usually shear the animals at the farm first and send the materials to a weaving place or something?” Rose asked, watching as a pair of goats began head butting each other.

“There is a process, yes,” Elvis replied, holding up his fist and brandishing it at the brown goat. “Get him Arnold.”

“That goat is named Arnold?” Rose asked, giggling at the insanity of this all.

Elvis held up his hands, smirking. “I don’t know. He doesn’t talk and can’t tell me. But he looks like an Arnold. The white one getting beat is probably named Carl.”

“You’re very strange,” Rose muttered, kneeling down to pet the bunny who had hopped over to greet her, sniffing her boots.

“Anyway, Jeremy Bearimy is the best and therefore, he takes a more untraditional approach to dress making and whatnot,” Elvis explained. “According to the giant tarantula, he wanted to test the materials straight off the animal to see how best to utilize their hair for fabrics. He’s a real artist, immersing himself in his craft.”

“It sounds like it,” Rose said. “Am I strange for wanting a dress made from plants, like cotton?”

“Totally boring and totally your style,” Elvis said, hanging his head with disappointment. “But it’s fine because no one is going to be looking at you, anyway.”

“I’m the bride,” Rose argued, rising up when the bunny hopped off.

“Yeah, but I’m wearing a three-piece suit and a top hat,” Elvis replied, smugly.

“You’re not even invited,” Rose teased, reaching out to pet the alpaca when it came over to greet her. It had a kind face and long eyelashes. Even though it was very sizable and as tall as her, the animal wasn’t intimidating, seeming like a gentle giant.

“Of course, I am and I’m going to look so dashing,” Elvis said, lowering down in the air and looking up at the alpaca. “How would I look riding down Roya Lane?”

As if in reply, the animal turned, walking away, swishing its tail at the dragon.
